Why there is no independent directory of Israeli agents

Israel is a small football market. Per the Israel FA's published register, the number of active licensed agents is roughly a few dozen, not hundreds. A market that size does not sustain commercial directories, so anyone selling you "the full list of Israeli agents" or "direct contacts" is selling something you can check for free at the official source.

The absence of a polished directory is also why unofficial lists spread on WhatsApp and social media. Treat every list that does not come from football.org.il or FIFA as marketing at best and bait at worst, and go back to the two official records before you act on any name.

How to check the Israel FA intermediaries register

The Israel FA publishes its intermediaries information in the association section of football.org.il. That page is the authority for who is registered to provide agent services in Israeli football. Go to the site directly by typing the address yourself; do not follow a link the agent sent you.

Search for the person's full legal name, exactly as it appears on their identification, and be careful with spelling and similar names. If the name is not there, ask the agent to explain, and expect a document trail, not a story. "I am registered through my partner" or "my registration is being renewed" both mean that today, this person is not on the register.

• Check the spelling twice; fraudsters use lookalike names.
• If the name is missing, stop and ask for written proof of registration.

How to check FIFA's records for international agents

For international moves, FIFA licenses agents through the FIFA Agent Platform at agents.fifa.com, and its official agents pages at inside.fifa.com explain the system and link to the official records. An agent who talks about "moving you to Europe" should hold a FIFA license you can find through FIFA's own channels.

The two registers answer different questions. The Israel FA register covers activity inside Israeli football; FIFA's records cover the license needed for cross-border work. An agent promising an international career who appears in neither is not an agent, whatever their Instagram says.

What the Israel FA's agent regulations actually say

The Israel FA's agent regulations set the rules of the road. They require agents to register with the association and pay an annual registration fee (in the region of 500 shekels per the regulations), which is exactly why "registration is too expensive for me" is never a credible excuse from someone claiming to work professionally in football.

The regulations also contain two protections every parent should memorize: a player cannot sign a representation agreement before the age of 16 and a half, and representation contracts are capped at two years. Anyone pushing a 15-year-old to sign, or offering a five-year "exclusive deal", is asking you to break the very rules that protect your child.

Why unregistered "advisors" and "mentors" are a red flag

When registration is required, people who want the business without the accountability rebrand. "Advisor", "mentor", "intermediary friend", "someone who knows people at the club": these titles are designed to provide agent services while dodging the register you just learned to check.

Israel's small market makes this trick more convincing, not less. Everyone really does know someone at a club, so name-dropping is cheap. The register exists precisely so you do not have to weigh stories; either the person accepted the rules and registered, or they did not.

What parents should demand before any agreement

If your child has genuine interest from an agent, slow the process down. A legitimate agent loses nothing by waiting a week while you verify; a fraudster loses everything, which is why pressure and deadlines are themselves a warning sign.

Before anything is signed, insist on three things, in writing where relevant, and remember that under the FA's regulations no representation agreement is valid before age 16 and a half in any case.

• A license check you performed yourself, in both the Israel FA register and FIFA's records.
• The full written agreement in advance, with the agent's name matching the license you verified.
• Independent advice before signing: a lawyer, the players' union, or an experienced person with no stake in the deal.
• Zero upfront payments; licensed agents earn from completed deals, not from families.

An agent is a result, not a prerequisite

Young Israeli players do not get discovered because an agent "opened doors". They get noticed through consistent performance in a youth department, through tryouts (מבחנים) at bigger clubs, and increasingly through quality video that lets scouts see them play before anyone travels anywhere.

That order matters. When the football is real, agents appear on their own, and you get to choose from a position of strength using the checks above. When the football is not there yet, no agent, licensed or otherwise, can conjure a career, and anyone claiming they can is selling you the claim, not the career.
